Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms Universität Bonn The University of Bonn was founded on 18 October 1818. Its name is derived from the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III. With its areas of special scientific research and its research groups the University of Bonn ranks among the top German universities today and builds on its long tradition of internationally orientated research and teachings. Beside the approximately 80 courses of study it sets worldwide recognised standards in the fields of chemistry, mathemtics, economy and philosophy. This is why the university is among the first ten universities in the German university ranking and among the top 100 on international level.
